Whether they're telling you how they climbed The Mountain Of Doom, swam through the currents of The Infinite Waterfall, or wrestled naked with demigods, the authors of Athletics will regale you with all sorts of tales of triumph!

... Ok kid, now the tour group's past it's time for the real scoop. Athletics is a living miracle. Our readers read between the lines for stories that speak to them, if you know what I mean. Sure, selling boots & fancy halfling pipes brings in ad money, but the real reason we make it is so our readers can appreciate their stories, y'know?

Look at The Other Rags out there, the ones with fancy gloss hard covers, no romance, and the latest chainmail designs on them. If we're lucky we'll get a throw-away NPC to keep us quiet. But put gay folks in charge of writing, give us a cover and a chance to make something true to us and it's a niche interest publication. That's 'cause stories with and by folks like us are "special interest" while your generic fantasy games get pitched as "universal". They wanna let straight folks tell straight folks how to feel about queers & queers how to feel about ourselves.

Fuck that. While we have 'em hooked with stories about cursed amulets, 20-sided dice, and base attack bonuses, let's slip 'em some greased up muscles and breath too close to a grappler's cheek. Let's show 'em sun kissed shoulders and call it a Strength check. If we gotta use this vehicle to carry our stories, let's drive it into the ground.
